Large Tunnel Repair Project
January 06, 2023

CMR is currently working on a Large Tunnel Repair Project

When we’re finished, this tunnel will be waterproof and stronger than when it was first built!
Large Tunnel Repair Project

The existing tunnel is 100-plus years old and is constructed of cream city brick.

Due to its’ age the space was in various stages of deterioration due to water intrusion, and bricks were now beginning to crumble and fall.

  1. The first step of our process was to prepare the brick's existing surface and remove any lost or scaled areas.
  2. Next, we stopped all active leaks with Xypex Patch N Plug.
  3. Once active leaks were stopped, we applied a parge coat of Xypex MegamixII to smooth out the surface and prevent any new water intrusion with the products crystalline waterproofing ability.
  4. As we continue on to the remaining phases of the project, we will be installing Sika’s Carbodur Grid Reinforcing System to enhance the structural integrity of the tunnel.
We’ll have more pictures to come as we continue our work. When we’re finished, this tunnel will be waterproof and stronger than when it was first built!
